Microsoft pulls the plug on Windows Paint 3D

Ana sayfa / News

Microsoft is officially canceling Paint 3D, first released in 2016 as a 3D version of the 2D Paint app. Paint 3D allowed users to create and edit 3D models and artwork on Windows 10.

Things didn’t go as Microsoft expected for Paint 3D. It failed to gain a large user base compared to the Paint app that millions of people already use. Accordingly, the company removed Paint 3D from Windows 10’s starter apps in 2021.

The app had been available for download from the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and Windows 11 for several years. However, as of November 4, Paint 3D will no longer be available for download and will no longer receive updates. Thus, the app will be retired.

Windows’ iconic app updated after years!

With Windows 11, the Sticky Notes app has been updated. However, according to the first comments, it gathers great criticism.

Microsoft also stated that all installations will stop receiving support after this date. In fact, this decision is not surprising. The tech giant has been bringing various features to Paint for some time, including artificial intelligence.

In Windows 11, it is testing new features such as resizable drawing tools, brand new pencil and eraser tools.

It seems Paint 3D failed to translate Microsoft’s goal of creating 2D artwork into the third dimension. While the company continues to improve its classic experience with Paint, the 3D version will be history.
